By now most of you have heard about the Law of Attraction, right? It has been written about extensively and even been on Oprah. I just discovered it a few years ago at a time in my life when I really needed it (maybe I manifested it).
This girl was miserable at work and at home and boy did it show. I was angry at the world and I wanted everyone to know how I felt. Ever been there? Nothing was going my way and it felt like the world was collapsing in on me.
While working on my side hustle one day, I came across a post on Facebook talking about “The Secret”, a book written by Rhonda Byrne. The book was apparently about the power of positive thinking and the Law of Attraction. I figured I could use something positive in my life, so it really peaked my interest.
So, I did what everyone does when they want to find fast answers….. I looked it up on YouTube! There were a ton of videos on The Law of Attraction and The Secret.
My first thought was, really? Think myself happy? Even I could have come up with that. But something kept me digging into it. What the heck, I figured I would give it a try. I started a Gratitude Journal with an app on my phone.
Every time something crazy happened at work, and it always did, I started thinking about the things that I was thankful for. I woke up that morning, my family is healthy, my bills are paid, I have a roof over my head…. You get the picture. Every morning while I was getting ready for work, I thought about how grateful I am for all the things I have and that I know I am on the right track to achieve all my dreams.
And Then……….I Got the Confirmation I Needed
Within a week or so, my boss pulled me aside and told me that she had noticed the change in me and wanted to know what was going on. That is when I knew I was onto something, but I felt like there had to be more to it than this. I had only scratched the surface.
There are so many people out there talking about The Law of Attraction and it is a great place to start. However, to really make it work for you, to manifest the life you want, you have to understand that it does not work alone.
Where Does The Law of Attraction Fit In
There are 12 Metaphysical Universal Laws and the Law of Attraction is one of them. In its simplest terms, the Law of Attraction says that like energy attracts like energy (easy, right?). However, the Law of Attraction is a secondary law. In fact, it is number 7 out of 12 Universal Laws and you need to understand them all and how they work together.
To get a little deeper (very little), everything in the universe is energy vibrating at different frequencies. So, the sun, the moon, earth, plants, animals, people, dirt, rocks, (obviously I could go on forever, but you get the point). It’s all energy. Our thoughts are energy in motion. Thoughts effect our mood, our behavior, our lives as well as effect everything around us.
Every thought, positive or negative, vibrates on a frequency and attracts things on that same frequency. Positive thoughts are one a higher frequency and negative thoughts are on a lower frequency.
Have you ever seen the movie “The Replacements” with Keanu Reeves? There is a scene in the locker room when the team is meeting and Gene Hackman asks what they are afraid of. The guys misunderstand the question and start talking about spiders and bees.
Then Keanu says quicksand. He explains, things are going along pretty good and then one bad thing happens, then another, and another, until you are in over your head. Life will get like that if you don’t take care of your thoughts.
Your Thoughts are the Key
Pay attention to what you think about. Make sure that negative thoughts are not hanging around in your head taking up space. Push negative thoughts out and counter them with positive.
We all have that negative soundtrack that plays in our heads from time to time, especially when you are feeling insecure about something. Such as… I am not pretty enough, not skinny enough, not smart enough…. You are enough! You are totally unique and wonderful! There is nobody like you in the whole universe! You have something special inside you that no one else has!
Do you know what that is? What did you dream about being when you were a kid? For me it was being a writer. Your mind as a child was free of all the self-doubt and stress we have as adults and was more open to the universe.
Think about that until the next episode.
